Coupons from P&G

I saw an email from Proctor & Gamble today, if you spend $50 on Proctor & Gamble products you can request a book from them with $100 in coupon savings!  I know that’s a lot of money, but I thought some of you might be trying out the catalina deal going on at Safeway right now.  So you just might be spending that much.  Go here for full information/the form you need to send in.

Reader Roundup

Dawn wrote today, with the following great reminder:

For those who became fans of Babies R Us on Facebook and received your $5 gift card (I had myself, my husband, my sister, her boyfriend, my mom and my dad all become fans). The gift cards must be spent by 2/20 and they are having a huge Presidents Sale this weekend – go to their website to check out all their coupons for the weekend and opportunities to get more gift cards.

Thanks for the timely note, Dawn!

Jocelyn wrote about a great Excedrin Freebie:

I found this link to a coupon for a free bottle of Excedrin:

http://www.excedrin.com/offer.shtml

Just DON’T pick Excedrin on the quiz. Fill out your info, and it says it will send out a coupon in 4-6 weeks.

Thanks, Jocelyn!

Shayna wrote about a great toy score in the clearance section of the Eagle River Walmart. She found some Strawberry Shortcake marked way down (over in a special clearance section by the pet food). She was able to combine the deal with a $5/$20 from coupons.com too! Shayna sent a picture of her loot, too! Thanks Shayna! We love seeing all the great scores you all find.

Amanda R. wrote us about the “Dollar Days” sale at Scholastic Online – through the 28th of the month they have a big selection of their books marked down to $1.  Here’s the link.  Thanks for the fun find, Amanda!  Books are always very popular around our home, they make the best gifts.

Lastly, from Amanda S!  She wrote to let us know about another fitness option for those of you looking for a gym – Body Renew.  They have branches in Anchorage and Wasilla, and Eagle River is just opening.  She says:

They have a deal of $49 to join and $29 a month with a contract OR its $39 a month no contract (and its 24 hours). They have some free classes included each month in that.  They have a nice website you can look at with 3-d tours and the whole speal.  And?  For $20 a month you can have day care up to 2 hours a day or $30 for a punch card of 10.   They also have trainers and nutritionists but they are spendy…

Amanda just joined, she’s going to report back on how she likes it. Thanks for the tip on this fun/affordable sounding option, Amanda!

"Expo" Website – Product Reviews/Freebies

Calling all fans!  Have any of you tried “expo” yet?  I signed up a couple months back but haven’t tried it yet.  Expo is a place to upload your video reviews of different products.  They’ll send you emails requesting you review different things (like Pantene, Kraft Mac & Cheese, etc).  Sometimes they’ll send you the sample to review, sometimes they don’t.  When you do reviews you earn rewards.  When you do reviews that are highly rated you are more likely to be selected if you want to review some of the nicer freebies.
For example – right now they have the following offer on their page:
a free top secret household appliance valued at $300 we are giving away for free in return for reviews –  a leading appliance company is launching a new household product later this year and wants some of EXPO’s most opinionated members to try out their new product and share their honest opinion with other consumers.
Sounds interesting, right?  It’s completely free and seems to be legit, I’m just a bit scared of my video camera so haven’t tried it yet.  Have any of you?  If you have, share your thoughts on this site with us please!  If you haven’t tried/seen it before, you can go here to check out their page.

Hygiene Kit Assembly Day

At long last I have the date and time for out Hygiene Kit Assembly Day.  We will be meeting at 10:00 in the morning on Saturday the 30th at the Maplewood LDS Chapel. Here is a list of the items that we are collecting (we are short on the items with stars):

Unbreakable combs without sharp handles (2 per kit)*
 Toothbrushes (sealed and 4/kit)
Toothpaste (no pumps and 6-8 ounces each)
Bars of soap (2/kit 3.5-5 ounces each)
Terry Cloth Hand towels (no dish towels, approx. 15×25 inches each, 2/kit)*
Boxes of gallon zip lock bags

We would love it if you could join us in assembling these kits!  We will also be having a potluck breakfast (but come even if you can’t bring something, there will be plenty!) and spend an hour or so putting these kits together.  We will also be collecting these items from our drop off locations Friday evening so please have your donations there by that time:
Midtown Anchorage
Allen & Petersen Cooking and Appliance Center:
Benson & Seward hwy.
Anchorage, AK
276-0111
Downtown Anchorage
Alaska Cake Studio
608 W. 4th Ave
272-3995

South Anchorage

Anchorage, Ak 99515

Wasilla

Allen & Petersen

Wasilla, AK 99654-7309

Please feel free to email us with any questions.  While these kits may or may not end up in Haiti, they will be replenishing a stock pile that was depleted by the Earthquake and sent out to those in need during the next catastrophe.  Thank you all for your help!

Please Help Haiti

Note: this post will stay ont he top of the page all day, scroll down for other posts.

I am sure that by now most of you have heard about the disastrous earthquake that hit Haiti.  I couldn’t stand to look at the pictures and footage of the devastation and my heart truly feels for those who are suffering.  Kara and I have decided to try to help out in the little way we can by putting together hygiene kits to be sent over.  It may not seem like much but I would think that when you have nothing, the little things like soap and toothbrushes can make just a little bit of a difference in your comfort.  We know that our Divas out there have large supplies of things like toothbrushes and toothpaste so we are asking you all to help out in whatever way you can.  We are setting up drop off locations around Anchorage and one in Wasilla that we will be collecting from next week.  At that time I will have a group of ladies from my church get together to assemble these kits (anyone will be welcome to come, I can post the date, time and location if anyone else is interested in joining us).

Here is what we will be collecting:
Unbreakable combs without sharp handles (2 per kit)
 Toothbrushes (sealed and 4/kit)
Toothpaste (no pumps and 6-8 ounces each)
Bars of soap (2/kit 3.5-5 ounces each)
Terry Cloth Hand towels (no dish towels, approx. 15×25 inches each, 2/kit)
Boxes of gallon zip lock bags
Please drop off whatever you have of these items and if you just want to donate a few bucks so we can buy whatever items we are short on (likely towels), these locations will have envelopes for money as well.  Please drop off at:
Midtown Anchorage
Allen & Petersen Cooking and Appliance Center:
Benson & Seward hwy.
Anchorage, AK
276-0111
Downtown Anchorage
Alaska Cake Studio
608 W. 4th Ave
272-3995

South Anchorage
Bountiful Family Bookstore

300 E. Dimond Blvd
Anchorage, Ak 99515
868-8902
Wasilla

Allen & Petersen
990 Hermon Road
Wasilla, AK 99654-7309

We are looking to add locations so check back regularly and if you are a business and would like to serve as a drop off spot or donate supplies, please email us.
Are you a blogger that would like to set up something similar for your city?  You can email us and I can give you details on what you need to do to get these kits made and turned in.  If you are a blogger doing something of your own to help Haiti, then email us and we will add you to our list of Bloggers Helping out Haiti. Here is who we have so far:

And one more thing, if you leave a comment on this post we will donate $.25 for each one!  Let everyone know to come and say hello and if you are doing something to help, let us all know about it!

*FYI: These are not going through the Red Cross but through a religious  group and all shipping and transportation has already been arranged*

From Our Inbox: Soup Coupon, Crockpot Recipe, and more store clearance

I’m loving all the email we’ve been receiving, thank you for sharing your great finds and tips with us!  We love the community synergy we have going here thanks to all of you!

Kelly wrote us with a super simple Crockpot Chicken Burritos recipe:

(Feeds about 5 people)

2 Chicken Breasts (Put them in frozen!)
2 14oz. cans of chili beans in chili gravy
1 Cup salsa

Throw it all in the crockpot- you can put the chicken in frozen!! Cook all day on high- 5-6 hours or so minimum if the chicken was frozen. Right before serving, take the chicken out, and shred it, then stir it back into the crockpot. Serve with tortillas, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, sour cream- whatever you like on tacos.

Sounds super simple, I love it!  I have some leftover tortillas this week so I might be trying it very soon.

Kelly also gave us a great Borders tip:

I was at Borders today, and they had some great toys for 75% off- then I used the $10 off a $30 purchase coupon to make them even cheaper! They had some ty beanies- the bigger ones, some games, big bubble makers, bath toys, puzzles, and a few craft items too. I walked out with three bags for $21.75. My reciept said I saved $105.

Lastly?  Go to www.chunky.com to get $5 in Campbell’s Chunky Soup coupons.

Thanks for all the great tips and the recipe, Kellly!

BreeAnn wrote us on Facebook to let us know that the music store in the 5th Ave mall is going out of business.  Everything in the store is 50% off – movies, music, both new and used and everthing else.  She says it’s looking a little picked over already, BUT – if you’re heading to the mall anyway check it out!  Thanks, BreeAnn.

One last note!  I headed down to the Alaska Cake Studio with the kids (quite the adventure) earlier this week, and can now state that I 100% recommend the cheesecake brownie.  Delicious!

Reader Tips Roundup

From our inbox:

Kelly wrote to give us a heads up that the Weight Watcher Smart Ones meals, which are on sale for $2.29 this week (and buy 10 get a $5 gift card) have some coupons for $4/5 on them.  So you can get them for $1.40 each, even without bringing any coupons WITH you to the store.  Thanks, Kelly!

Annie wrote us about the Tide website – thanks for the coupon tip, Annie:

http://www.tide.com/en-US/offers.jspx
you can sign up to become a member of P&G Everyday Solutions, then you can get coupons and free samples (I ordered coupons for Tide–will be mailed–and samples from Always and Tampax)

Lastly, Tasha wrote about 2 samples:

One of them is already gone – yikes, sometimes they go fast!

And a a free sample of Ivan Mogs Caramel Apples (Alaska is in the dropdown, at the bottom of the page it does state continental US only – frankly it looked so yummy I put my address in anyway on the off chance they send me one!)
http://ivanmog.com/freesamp.html

Thanks, Tasha!!
