Make Baby Wipes from Old Receiving Blankets

Did you know you can make your own baby wipes from receiving blankets? Not only can you re purpose those old blankets but you can save yourself some money and the environment by making your own. If you do not have receiving blankets on hand you can find them cheap at thrift stores (usually about $0.25-$1.00 each) and even at garage sales. You can also use flannel from the fabric store.

What you will need:

  • 2-3 Receiving blankets
  • Scissors or paper cutter with a good blade

Step 1:

Fold your receiving blanket in half and cut straight across the top where the fold was made.

Step 2:

Fold each half in half and cut along the folded part. This should give you 4 strips total.

Step 3:

Fold each strip in half and cut along fold then fold again and cut again.

You should now have 16 neat little squares.

To make and store your baby wipe solution you will need:

  • Container to store your wipes
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of baby oil
  • 1/2 cup of baby wash

Place your wipes in the container you plan to store them in.

Mix together the water, oil, and baby wash and pour over the wipes.

Your wipes are now ready for use.

*You can also use a more natural solution of lanisol, aloe, and essential oil. I chose the baby oil and baby wash because it’s what I had in my stockpile.

These are great, especially if you are using cloth diapers, like I am!
