Commissary to Start Taking eCoupons and Issuing Shopper Card

Within the next year, the commissary will begin a digital card program which will allow patrons to load eCoupons onto their shopper card.  Similar to a card used at Safeway, Albertson’s and other large grocery stores, you will then be able to go to a specific website to pick which coupons you can add to your card.  Their coupon policy surrounding the use of eCoupons has not yet been announced as this program is currently in the early stages but hopefully they will make it very clear on the issues of stacking digital and paper coupons, the possibility of allowing a person to redeem multiple of the same eCoupon (a major short fall of other digital coupons at this point) and so on.  I will be sure to keep you all informed as more information becomes available.

Hopefully this will be a great thing for commissaries that do not have many hanging coupons in their stores.  However, I do hope it doesn’t mean that they will begin getting rid of all the great in store coupons found at other locations.  Time will tell how this turns out but I think it should be a good thing in the end.  How about you?  Are you excited to get a shopper card and to be able to use digital coupons at the commissary?

You can read the story about this in the Army Times.
