A note from a reader on a recent post had me out learning about something new tonight – gift card exchange sites! Not sure why I’ve never really noticed this before, but the general idea is that people get gift cards to stores that they don’t visit, and sell them through a 3rd party site online for a small commission to the site. A win for the seller and the site, and a win for the buyer who can find gift cards at a discount on their face value.
One of the bigger sites, which comes with some guaruntees on the gift cards they sell, is Plastic Jungle. They have retailers like Home Depot and Lowes for 8% off, Kohls (12%), Borders (15%)… if you have some time, the site might be worth checking out!
Another site, recommend by a reader, is ABCGiftCards. They don’t look quite as big as Plastic Jungle but they have a nice selection of gift cards too. Pier 1 for 10% off, Gymboree for 20% off, …

You can also buy discount gift cards at http://www.giftcardrescue.com they have a great selection. Right now they have a lot of Tiffany & Co. gift cards in stock.
