I want to introduce you all to an electronics buy back program run through Costco and powered by Gazelle. Gazelle is a program that buys used electronics in order to recycle them. This program allows you to de-clutter your home in an environmentally safe way by offering to buy your used electronics including movies, PDA’s, video games, cellphones, GPS’s, cameras, laptops and more.
You start by searching for the item on their site that you want to sell. Every item is given an offer for what they are willing to pay for it. If you like the offer you print off a shipping label and send your item in at no cost to you and for some items they will even send you a box to ship it in. Once the item is received by Gazelle, you will be paid by way of a Costco Cash card (you don’t need to be a member to use these) that you can use in the warehouse, online or at the gas pump. Sweet deal, right? Especially since most of these items are gathering dust and taking up space in some box in your home. Plus, this prevents those items from filling up landfills or those rechargeable batteries from releasing harmful chemicals into the environment. I know for many frugally minded people it can be difficult to get rid of something that we know is still perfectly good although it may no longer get used. By sending our items into Gazelle we can feel good about clearing out space in our house without being wasteful and all while making a little extra money.
Thanks to Stephanie for introducing this site to me!
